About VDL Van Hool
Durable mobility
The economic functioning of society is highly dependent on mobility. However, the growing demand for mobility brings with it challenges in terms of accessibility, health and sustainability. Our mission is to develop cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions, with a focus on electrification and emissions reduction, with a view to future generations.
TEAMWORK
VDL Van Hool works intensively from two different locations. Our site in Belgium employs around 250 people. They work in parts production, after-sales, purchasing, development and finance. Our production plant in Macedonia covers an area of 78,000 m². Around 1,350 people work on the construction of our coaches.
We have a rich history in bus manufacturing, our people are the strength of our organisation. It is the knowledge and experience of our colleagues that form the basis for the high quality of our production process. We invest not only in our colleagues, but also in our suppliers. In Macedonia alone, for example, we are a reliable partner for 20 local companies. We also have an extensive global service and sales network.
Over 75 years of innovation
We have been a pioneer in the transport industry since 1947. Our passion for transport and for technical innovation has remained the same ever since. Today, we operate worldwide and lead the way in developing our mobility solutions.
Did you know, for example, that we were the first manufacturer of low-floor city buses? Or that we helped make hydrogen-powered buses a reality? And that we built the world's first battery-electric double-decker coach?
STRENGTH THROUGH
COOPERATION
Strength through cooperation. This is the cornerstone of VDL Groep, the international industrial family business with its head office in Brainport Eindhoven. Founded in 1953, now 71 years ago, the company has been run by the third generation of the Van der Leegte family since 2017. The VDL Groep employs some 15,000 employees and operates in 20 countries.
The group encompasses more than 100 closely cooperating operating companies, each with its own specialism. The activities of these companies can be summarised in the ‘five worlds of VDL’: Hightech, Mobility, Energy, Infratech and Foodtech.
